    Residential Property, Belfast Lough

    Architect – George Robinson, RPP

Glass and zinc were used to create visual impact in this stunning house. Mahogany framed doors and opening lights added softness and contrast . Full height, uninterrupted glazing was achieved by burying the glass deeply into the floor and ceiling and by using a steel clamping arrangement to add support. This enabled the glass to span over 3 metres without the need for very heavy glass or for support fins. All the steel work was hidden in the floor and ceiling but can be accessed for future replacement or repair if required.

      Residential Extension, Doagh

      Architect – Alan Bennett

This new dwelling has been architect designed to create a classic Irish country feel but with all the benefits of a modern, highly insulated home. The doors, windows, sills and roof lights are all maintenance free powder coated aluminium and are double glazed with low E gas filled units. This creates an interior filled with light but which is able to retain heat.

The folding, sliding doors give the opportunity to open up most of one elevation of the house, allowing the house and garden to fuse into one space. Self-cleaning glass on the roof lights completes the low maintenance specification.

        Residential Extension, Antrim Coast

        Architect – James Rooney

The Antrim Coast can face some severe weather so the detailing and materials used in this shore-side home had to be up to the task. Marine-grade powder coated aluminium was used extensively to provide protection against the elements. Aluminium frames, cills, flashings and trims were all treated in this way to provide a weather-sealed, maintenance-free and robust solution. The clever use of stone, wood, soft grey frames and interesting details transforms this once standard chalet bungalow into something very special.

          Residential Property, Belfast

          Architect – James Rooney

This modification to an existing older home shatters the theory that to create a modern sustainable look, less is more. The clever use of different colours, shapes, angles and textures works superbly well to create a show-piece entrance that is both current and timeless.

The glass canopy and frameless glass corners add much to the design appeal of this house and continue round to the rear glazed kitchen extension. The overall effect is subtle yet stylish.

            Residential Extension, Circular Road, Belfast

            Architect - Keith Lockhart

This utility room and garden room extension (with pizza oven) incorporated large sliding glass doors, residential doors and roof lights. Today’s high performance doors and glass mean that large areas of glass can still be efficient, whilst providing large areas of light and space.

"An efficient and professional team. The contemporary aluminium frames have added a touch of class to our extension.”

              Residential Property, Sandown Road, Belfast

This project involved a contemporary two storey extension of cedar cladding and glass. It incorporated windows, roof lights and doors framed in dark green aluminium to compliment the cladding.

We are really pleased with how the windows and doors of our new extension enhance the look of the property. We wanted something to contrast against our new cedar cladding and there was a huge choice of colours for the aluminium frames. Calderwood’s helped us choose an unusual shade of dark grey/green which looks great. The aluminium is so much more robust and richer looking than UPVC and all the doors and windows feel so solid and much more secure. Calderwood’s quality of product and fitting was excellent so we happily recommend them.
